Prime Minister Modi to land in Russia for the 16th BRICS Summit

Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi will arrive in Russia very soon to attend the 16th BRICS Summit. The Ministry of External Affairs of India mentioned on the 18th October that Mr. Modi will be joining the summit which is going to be held in the Tatarstan capital of Kazan along the Volga River on October 22-23.

The Prime Minister is “expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from BRICS member countries and invited leaders,” The Ministry of External Affairs said. So far, there is no known information about whether the PM will hold a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines.
“Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security” will be the fundamental agenda of the global leaders in this summit.“The Summit will offer a valuable opportunity to assess the progress of initiatives launched by BRICS and to identify potential areas for future collaboration,” the MEA said.
It is observed that behind the expansion of BRICS , India plays a very crucial role and even strives for the multilateralism for global development. The 16th summit is going to be hosted by Mr. Vladimir Putin in Russia. It is reported that Putin has invited more 24 countries who have expressed their wish to join BRICS.
The emergence of BRICS+ has an impactful effect on the geopolitical rivalry. The world is falling apart or to say , getting fragmented only for the sake of maintaining peace and development. But this will perhaps intensify the global issues and contradictions among countries and associations. The risks are real , practical and imminant but keeping these in mind , the world should prepare for the future.
