Four Medals for India; Rajasthani Daughters shine flawlessly at Paris Para olympic 2024
Our athletes have been absolutely blazing in this edition of the Paralympic Games, having already bagged four medals.
“History Repeated” as our golden daughter Avani Lekhara reigns again by securing and defending the gold while debutant shooter Mona Agarwal earns a bronze in Para Shooting in the event R2- Women’s 10m Air Rifle standing SH1. They are elated to share the same podium as they have clinched glorious victory for the country.
On being asked if they wanted to dedicate the gold and the bronze, Avani said, “I’d like to dedicate this gold to my country, to the whole team, and to my supporters” while Mona dedicates the bronze to her kids. Noteworthy to mention, Avani has become the first Indian woman to win two gold medals, and also a bronze medal earlier in the women’s 50M rifle 3 position SH1 in Tokyo.
Manish Narwal, the previous gold medal winner in Tokyo 2020, has been a determined and phenomenal athlete all through the game. Although he did not manage to shoot above 10 multiple times, he had pulled off a brilliant 234.9 and a glistening silver medal in the Men’s 10m air pistol SH1. His father reveals what exactly his son has wished for, “Yes, he did win the 50m pistol gold in Tokyo but his aim was to win a medal in 10m air pistol as well.”
Para sprinter Preeti Pal, the Indian cheetah, races high bringing India a fourth bronze medal. She also makes a record in her name with a personal best timing of 14.21s. She wants to work on herself more. This Sunday, she will again be seen in action in the women’s 200m T35 class.
